About Dionna Walters, MPH, MPA - Owner/Expert

I guide people to be forward thinking – and acting – about public health and its determinants by:

Teaching emerging public health professionals as an adjunct professor at the NYU School of Global Public Health and SUNY Downstate School of Public Health
Advising public health practitioners and organizations in developing effective community- and population-focused strategies
Producing and hosting the Good Squishee Podcast, which explores public health and its determinants through the lens of popular culture

I created DWArticulated in April 2019 to bring my experience and interests directly to assist organizations and individuals in building a solid, sustainable infrastructures to support the work of community-based health and social services organizations with:

30+ years of public health administration & management, and strategic planning for nonprofit, academic, and government organizations that promote and protect community health and well-being
Over 20 years of management and coordination of community-based public health education programs designed to reduce health disparities among economically-disadvantaged populations
Program management and supervision/team leadership and liaising across disparate organizational entities to ensure collaboration
Facilitation of collaborative efforts among academic leaders, government officials, nonprofit organizations, and community residents for strategic development and sustainability action plans
Specialized skills in public policy analysis and community-based participatory research and planning
Health and public policy-centered training: BS degree from Northwestern University, MPH degree from University of California, Los Angeles, and MPA degree from Columbia University; CDC/ASPH Intern, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

My Mission

At DWArticulated, my mission is to empower organizations to create meaningful change in their communities. With over 30 years of experience in public health, I focus on strategies that enhance the well-being of those most in need.

In this climate of increasing health and social service needs – and competition for funding - it is vital for organizations to have a clear vision for how they want to provide a long-lasting impact to their communities with programs that have proven effectiveness.

Organizations that formulate a strategic direction for their program offerings with a supportive infrastructure are more likely to succeed in making a lasting impact to their communities they serve, and are more likely to succeed in receiving grant from public and private funders to support successful programs activities.

DWArticulated guides those organizations in enacting their strategic direction to make a tangible and measurable difference as they work to positively impact their communities' health and well-being.

WHO DWARTICULATED WORKS WITH

DWArticulated works with organizations – including nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, educational institutions – and small businesses that are committed to implementing effective health and/or social services programs with widespread reach. DWArticulated works with organizations dedicated to building a sustainable foundation for effective programs that reach as many people as possible – not just looking for a quick way to receive grant funding. I help organizations that want to invest the time and resources to build their capacity to partner with communities and funders to manage and evaluate long-term health and social services initiatives that positively impact lives.
